Combination with dextrose

Hi there. I did several saline infusion and I want to try glucose/dextrose infusion (D5W) this time. My max is 1,5 liter of saline (might be possible a bit more). I have seen than many people combine saline with dextrose (D5W) but it there any reason? There should not be any big swell (D5W), right? So I might infuse at least 1,5 liter of D5W?

The reason why people may combine glucose and saline may vary, but usually it reduces swelling from glucose, and slightly increases the duration of action of saline (it goes a little slower because glucose delays it). How you "mix" it all up doesn't matter, the main thing is asepsis! There are no global reasons for doing this and it doesn't do anything special at all...
