I like to put the hole on the side so you can stand the tube up when your not in it. I have two home made tubes both glass that I use on a regular basis , my 4.5 X 12 and my 6 X 10 with silicone seals and I always wet pump . If you go through this thread there are many pics of the tubes in use. Also some of my home made ball straps built for comfort.
What works for me is to stay warm and hydrated , I use a space heater on the glass that keeps the water warm which in turn transfers to the body for a faster growth.

Hey thanks for the advice, I'll try and give this a go at somepoint. I have an idea to try and get around this which was to pack my 4 inch opening jar which is 3.3L over one day to the point I'm suck, the next next day warm up in the same jar but then move upto and pack the 5 inch opening jar I've got which is 8L, then repeat for the last day in the IKEA jar for maximum results.
