Monster tube leak

Post by Packagefarm »

I have a new ish monster tube (only used 3 times) and it’s had a slow leak since I got it. I pump with water so I can see the bubbles that look to be coming from somewhere in the metal part that helps it open and close.

Cleaned the gasket as best I could but it still leaks, is this normal or has anyone had a similar issue and fixed it?

Many of them have leaks. For the price they're not good quality. I have one that had quite a gap in it at the top end of the hinge. managed to warm it and close it up with some pliers. Gaskets are bad for sealing, not the quality they used to be. A coating of oil helps them to seal but that and water over a longer period buggers up the sticky holding it on. Over tightening the screw distorts the flange leading to leaks. If and when you can seal it, after a while you can back off the screws a bit, the vac' will keep the 2 halves together. Patience and trial and error most of the time.
I'd like to see someone come up with a better aftermarket gasket.

Yeah, it’s tough having to constantly be pumping throughout my time in it. I try my best to stay between 5-6hg but at times when I put the pump down the tube will still be leaking and I’ll end up sitting around 4hg until I realize. It’s getting old
