So, I've been asked (as have many of us who infuse) many times what you need for an infusion ... I decided it was high time to create a shopping list.
Atlantic Med was out of 1 liter saline bags so I listed a 500 ml one. You will substitute that for 0.9% Saline (NS) D5%, D10%, or D5%/0.9% Saline blend (D5NS).
I included alcohol prep pads ... you could (and should) use chlorhexadine pads instead. You can get chlorhexadine at a local drug store.
I included spot band aids. I use those in conjunction with denture adhesive to seal the puncture site. Some folks use Krazy/Super glue. I found the denture adhesive works better in a "wet" situation. It's up to you.
The 2x2 gauze pads are for holding pressure on the site to seal things before you use adhesive or super glue.
I hope this can be a reference for those who wish to get into infusions.
