Huh. I'd never considered expanders.

For those not familiar with them, expanders are basically empty breast implants. They're used for breasts of course, but also by plastic surgeons to stretch skin for other types of surgery, or to stretch scars for "remediation."
The empty (or near-empty) implant is installed, then on follow-up visits the surgeon uses a needle to add fluid, usually saline solution, to enlarge the implant a little at a time.
