Need to upgrade jar — can anyone help?

Post by Addo »

I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get a drink dispenser jar (STJ) with a wider opening? I'm in the UK, and my current jar has a 4-inch opening that I've pretty much packed out and now get stuck in, so I’m looking to upgrade.

Ideally, I want something with a 5-inch or wider opening, but I can’t seem to find much online that isn’t way too big overall or doesn’t list the actual mouth size. Any help or suggestions would be massively appreciated!

Hey Milkdud56. That looks like a great pump! That IKEA vase does look ideal size-wise! Only thing is it doesn’t have a hole for the pump. I’d be up for drilling it if I knew how to do it safely – but I've never tried drilling into glass before so a bit nervous about cracking it. Has anyone here done this with an IKEA jar or got any tips?

Also, is there any alternative way to use a jar like this for pumping without having to drill a hole?

Found two versions of the BEGÄRLIG vase one being an 18cm version and the other a 29cm. Which would be better ?

The larger size is what I have. I tried to drill the first one I had and ended up cracking it so I bought a new vase and now I just put the suction tube through the opening. Works for me so far.

Thanks for the help. I've ordered the larger one and I'll update you with how I get on with it.

Practice with sellotape and a tile/glass drill on some old jam jars first

What seal will fit the ikea vase? I’ve not found one.

Hi Milkdud56,You don't need a hole for a valve (sucking out air with a thin hose) or a seal. The rim of the vase is smooth and round, very comfortable to hold. Pomp
