G5 means a Glucose solution with 5% Glucose. Glucose solutions are painless (in contrary to saline) and give an additional swelling. Roughly spoken, if you infuse 1 liter of G5 you will end with a 2 liter size. There are also solutions with 10 % or more available, but the higher the concentration, the higher the risk to obtain unwanted side effects. G10, which would double the size of G5, is the highest concentration which I regard as save.

For some people G5 swells a lot (double as mentioned above) and for some it doesn't swell so much. I did 1l g5 in my balls last weekend and didn't notice that much swelling sadly.

Some people are confusing "5% Dextrose" (D5, G5) with "5% dextrose in Normal Saline" (D5NS) D5 is almost the same concentration (osmolarity) as regular saline so there's almost no swelling. D5NS is roughly the same concentration as "10% Dextrose" so there will be very noticeable swelling.

They are not the same thing, but people might think they are

Well, as Hadrion said, everybody is different. I prefer G5 because it gives me an additional swelling, I'm able to gain 100% with G5. With saline only I havn't noticed an additional swelling, and it has never been pain free. But I admit that D5NS-infusion produces a faster and even bigger swelling, but it is not pain free because of tne saline. So, for me G5 and sometimes G10 is the best way to fill.

Heya! Yes that would be D10. You can see it says "hypertonic" on the bag. It also specifies 505 mOsmol/liter, which is higher than the osmolarity of Normal Saline (about 300 mOsmol/liter). This causes swelling.

I've infused a liter of D10 and it swelled for several hours.
