I was reading an old Do It Yourself electric pump thread started by jimbob101 » Thu Mar 22, 2007- this is the thread:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13991
This was an excellent thread and very long. Would any of the guys who participated in that thread care to update with how those pumps worked out? Which pump did you buy and modify? What was the pump life like? Are they still running?
Thanks-

Re: aquarium pump pumpers?
Mine is running just fine after several months of use.
It’s the pleasure of the pressure...

Along the same line--I use a warm washcloth wrapped around the tube for heat. Recently I bought a new aquarium cleaning tube. I had great equipment but had to sell it in the move. Being back, I built the new pump using the Harbor Freight pump and aquarium tube. The new tube just did not stand up to the vacuum as the older one did. It collapsed around 5-6 Hg. Could it have been from the heat? I rewarmed the washcloth in the microwave about every 10 minutes but not overly hot like melting the plastic which would have burned my dick. Have they made those tubes cheaper and thinner. Just wondering.

I have been using a modified (per the forum instructions) Tetra Whisper Aquarium Pump that I got at WalMart for $14.00 since the summer of '07. It works beautifully at about 4-5 Hg (I dont' use a gauge). It is almost silent too, very small and easily transportable. I highly reccommend this as a cheap solution for regular pumping. However, I have, in the past, been privliged to use a friend's higher power electric pump to great effect. If I had the where-withall to do so I would definitely have one of each. The smaller aquarium pump is great for travel.

Tetra pump from Wal-Mart running fine after a couple of years ... 4 - 5 in Hg
I added a gage from a broken pump inline ... works like a charm

Re: aquarium pump pumpers?
my tetra air pump from walmart (a wonderful place to find pumping equipment...stj, jars, soft thin hose, etc.) is still working after 2 years. i have a hand pump with gauge on it and since elec pump has 2 stem outlets which now are vacuum stems, i attached one hose from vac stem to my tube and another hose from stem to my hand pump. the gauge gives me a reading of 5hg. not a bad elec vac pump for under $25. explore the DIY side of pumping and buy when you need or can. i have pump jars and also monstertube. DIY and BUY work together. aloha
ALOHA and have a "SWELL" day. i'm a ballpumping ADDICT in hawaii pumping to have 20+in balls. my blogs: http://www.smoothmuscledad808.tumblr.com[/b] Skype: ballpumper808, em: [email protected], Facebook: Tali Cano, Twitter: smoothmuscle808

I can't get to the page with instructions on how to modify an aquarium pump. Is there a more direct link to archived pages?

Re: aquarium pump pumpers?
i have teh Tetra Whisper and it's fucking great, very quiet and pulls -exactly- 5"hg.
You can buy either the one-pump (20 bucks) or two-pump (30 bucks) version.. i have teh 2-pump version and i use a Y-connector to get both of them pulling together.. but it still maxes-out at precisely 5"Hg. it just comes to full vac pressure faster. That won't matter for cock pumping but it will for ballpumping with a larger chamber.
