Could some men over 50 receive practical benefits by being castrated?

Post by Addigo »

Middle age brings problems. Enlarged prostate, and possible risk of prostate cancer, loss of libido, or wife's menopause, or illness and unequal libido, testicular pain, infection, porn addiction, thoughts of cheating on spouse or partner for various reason, etc. etc. Could some men with these or other problems receive practical benefits from getting castrated, and going on T replacement, from minimal to full, or no replacement, as appropriate?

What’s the point of being castrated and then going on Testosterone Replacement?

Several reasons, you have complete control over T levels after castration, can reduce them below natural level but more than none to reduce symptoms, bone loss, or adjust it up or down as desired giving more complete control over libido at a given time, castration may be for testicular pain or discomfort or testicular cancer risk, Also I said, if appropriate. May not be wanted or needed, especially with prostate cancer risk. It's not a absolute, just an option. Besides some guys, or their wives/partners might just like the smooth look.

I haven't found testosterone level to have any connection to libido. My libido was fine when my testosterone level was 145; getting it bumped to 800 didn't change anything.

Probably varies by individual. Castration definitely lowers T. Probably individuals with T levels much higher than 145 have some degree of ED of sexual difficulties, so libido and sexual performance may depend on other factors as well.

T have nothing to do with prostate.
That's lie of scientist. You don't know that what the level will make your prostate grow 2x size.
And hormone system have very serious relation with healthy.

I'm in my mid-60s. I went on TRT a couple of years ago. Since then, I've lost over 120 pounds, my arthritis went into remission so that I went from needing a cane on good days or crutches on bad days to being able to walk normally, and my blood pressure dropped from 175/90 to 105/60.

Downside: occasional acne on forehead and upper chest

Some guys talk about life-changing differences from the first shot. I didn't fet that. It was six months before I noticed anything other than acne, which went away after a year or so. But even if it took a while, it was a big win for me.
