Question re: MonsterTube and mouth-pumping

Post by Regulus237 »

I've been a long-time, on-again, off-again jar-pumper. I've never bought an actual pumping tube before, instead using various jars and other vessels. Lately, I've started getting some really big size (see this thread: viewtopic.php?t=57111), which has been great, but I've gotten to the point where I've had real trouble getting out of a jar even with a large opening, spending upwards of half an hour uncomfortably squeezing my way out, and losing size in the meantime.

I think it's time to bite the bullet and get a MonsterTube, for the hinged entry and exit, but I have a question:

I have almost exclusively ever pumped with the mouth-and-aquarium-tube method, rather than using an actual pump. I've tried using hand pumps, but find them too fiddly, especially when pumping with water. With my mouth, I can fluctuate pressure higher or lower easily. Also, I like to pass time while pumping by playing video games, so having hands free is a plus.

So my question is: can you use mouth suction with the little valve opening on a MonsterTube? And if that's not possible out of the box, what hardware would I need to use to make it so that the air opening on a MonsterTube could be attached to an aquarium tube?

You need 3 things to connect aquarium tubing to a MonsterTube.
1. ¼ inch tubing
2. A fitting
3. A tubing adapter

You can get the first two from Amazon or a company called LeLuv. LeLuv is the supplier to Amazon for this item. The tubing comes with the fitting installed. The fitting connects with the one on the MonsterTube. The MonsterTube’s fitting, like the ones on standard cylinders, clicks shut when there’s not a matching fitting connected to it. They’re used and designed to hold the vacuum. You therefore can’t suck on it directly.

The adapter: Aquarium tubing is a smaller size than the standard tubing used for pumping. To connect them, you need an adapter. Below is the one that Amazon used to sell. I’ve found it at locally owned hardware stores (NOT Home Depot, Lowes or other giant stores). Pull up the link on your phone and show it to them. You may have to shop around. There are other online stores besides Amazon that sell them, but they have about a $25 minimum for each order. The adapter costs only a few dollars, so if you can find one locally (or another brand with the same measurements), you can save money.

It’s the pleasure of the pressure...

You can also go for a manual pump. They are not too expensive through Kodi Distributing. They also make an electric pump that you can set the pressure, and when it senses the pressure decreasing after so much, it will automatically kick in again to pump you up. All of these below already come with the universal connectors and tubing, so will hook right up to your monster tube.
