Homemade Seal

Post by getbigstj »

Hello all I saw another member suggest using Let’s Resin silicone sold on Amazon as a seal for our tubes.

I tried it for myself and I can say it makes a very nice comfortable seal

Here are some pictures

That seal looks amazing great job. Does the silicone have quite a bit of stretch to it? This would open up so many options for pumping.

YES PLEASE send a link. That is a perfect seal. If you incorporate it with the tube before it cures will it be glued to the tube ???

How did you shape it so perfectly, both outside and the inner ring that seals to the jar?

I believe I got the half gallon kit I will double check

I used a plastic container to create the base and a candle vase to create or hold the shape of the opening you drop your jar into the base container and support it with a few items under the jar and in between the opening I’ll show pictures as there were not great examples of pictures on the site only verbal directions.

The seal will not stay glued to jar I just cleaned the jar base good and the silicone kinda peeled right off no residue or residual pieces left over and the seal does have enough stretch to get it off at pretty large sizes I got out of it at 13 inches around one ball at a time but I’m sure the could of taken on more stretch of it wanted without breaking

I have used clear casting resins such as this and it does not transform into a milky white flexible substance. What did you add to this to achieve this result?

Nothing that is how the material is when it cures. It’s pretty nice not as soft as pumptoys (Silicone) seal but softer than the non silicone seal they sell.

With silicone - no Vaseline basically no petroleum jelly like substances or Astro glide type lines they make it hard and less pliable over time

Any lotion works fine just no petroleum (oily) stuff
