I think I almost popped this time

Hey folks,

Haven't posted in a while, my latest experience scared me enough that I tossed all my inflation gear so I figured I'd share as a warning of using too much pressure.

Started off normally, several inflate/deflate sequences, each time getting a little bigger and a little more pressure, towards the end the pressure popped the dripline connector off the needle. This video ends there, sped up 8x as usual with no sound. I should have taken that as a warning.

I didn't of course and plugged the line back in and kept adding more pressure. At this point I'm not getting any bigger, just tighter but the increasing pressure feels really good. All of a sudden I hear this popping/cracking/tearing sound resonating from my sac so I pulled out the needles fast as I could. I was still hearing the cracking (barely, over the hissing from the escaping gas) so I loosened the tie off sooner than usual too. The creaking balloon noise you can hear after I start unscrewing the tie-off is the gas forcing its way out into the fat pad.

This video is normal speed with sound, if you want to hear it. I suggest you download it because the audio is hard to hear in the browser. It didn't last long, but it scared the crap out of me, there wasn't any pain or bruising after and nothing was any more tender than usual so I guess there wasn't too much internal damage. I did get more permanent stretch from it though.

Jesus! I think you're correct and you almost popped. I've never heard anything like that. I mean you read about this sound in stories etc. about inflation but you made it real. Scary as shit. I'm 100% sure that had you not acted as quickly as you did it would have really popped.

I heard another story where the person doing this went bigger then usual and then felt a pinch then his balls went numb. X rays showed a bunch of stuff snapped. Maybe it wasn't true. I think maybe I read it on this forum somewhere. I could find probably. Scary and hot at the same time though! Glad you didn't pop, but really glad you shared!

I can tap on my hard pressurized sack thats gone into a full sphere shape and it sounds like a basketball. It would take alot to "pop" youself. Probably far more pressure than a person could tolerate, and you'd have to tie off so hard you cut off blood flow just to keep the gas from migrating. Skin is incredibly tough.

Maybe it wasn't true. I think maybe I read it on this forum somewhere. I could find probably.

Yeah I read that story here as well. I think his issue was he inflated really fast. Rapidly expanding gas just tore up flesh and ripped some nerves. It may or may not be a true story, but the things we do here arent exactly safe and I could easily see it happening to somebody just blasting N20 into their sack as fast as possible either for a rush or by accident. Always try to be safe.

Yeah, I remember the post, there was some mention of shredded nerves, sounded like someone trying to scare off the inflators...I didn't really believe it till now lol.

That's the thing, I've measured the pressure once and I had gotten to around 8lbs which is around basketball pressure. it's not easy to repeat for the pressure gauge tho so I only did it the once. This was more than that, felt a lot harder to the touch...and yes, I do tie off tight enough to cut off circulation, I get 0 migration even at super high pressure. Pop may be the wrong word, the skin isn't elastic like a balloon say so it wouldn't be the same but the skin could definitely split...if you didn't hear the sound well, slow it down to .5 speed just before you see me grab my sack...there was definitely something tearing in there...more I think about it, the more I think it was scar tissue from surgery I had a while back... and damn if I don't want to buy more supplies and do it again lol.

Skin is alot different than people expect. Its closer to a rubbery mesh than it is an elastic film. Thats how seeping occurs, saline diffuses out of the tiny gaps between the skin. Under regular pressure its airtight, but when stretched, much like a balloon, the molecular pores become large enough to let small droplets of saline through.

Having an airtight seal while inflating seems a bit dangerous. The N20 is desperately trying to equalize its pressure when increased. Its why it flows out of tanks so well, it wants to be as diffused as possible. With your sack, your essentially trading containers, meaning it still wants to spread out. So at higher pressures, like what you had in these videos, it will press against your entire sack, especially at weak points. Anything that may split open and allow relief of the pressure.

That noise you heard, from what I think (not a doctor grain of salt) was a layer of your dermis tearing. Your skin is comprised of several layers, and it seemed like one of them must have tore. Your deepest layer, the dermis, which rests beneath the hair follicle layer seems like a likely suspect. Otherwise you might have started shooting out hairs like a tarantula. Id take it easy for a month or so, no infusions to allow plenty of time for scar tissue to form incase of a tear.

Now, scar tissue stretches more. But dont get any ideas.
