Going to 20” on the first day is comfortable for me. My bag is rugged enough that I’m not concerned about leaks, blisters or a seeping infusion site. I hadn’t infused in a long time so it felt incredibly massive and I savored it’s loose fullness.

Morgen werde ich weitere 500 ml d5 hinzufügen.

Each morning my bag was fatter and looser so I would add only 5-800ml at a time so it is allowed to expand slowly with gravity and sheer weight.

Are you using any saline with D10 to increase the swell?

Is there an optimum ratio of D10 to normal saline?

How about D5 to normal saline?

I have some lactated ringers on hand which I believe
act similar to Normal saline when injected with D5

No experience yet with D10. Order arrives in about a week.

D10 expands quite enough by itself and saline stings.

D10 swells enough on its own. It swells roughly as much as D5NS (5% dex in Normal saline).

I know this confuses some people so let me explain this way:

A liter of normal saline (NS) contains 9g of salt dissolved in ~1 liter of sterile water.
A liter of D5 contains 50g dextrose dissolved in ~1 liter of sterile water.
A liter of "D5 in normal saline" (D5NS) contains both 9g of salt and 50g dextrose dissolved in ~1 liter of sterile water. It swells because it is hypertonic. You can learn all about it here: https://nurseslabs.com/iv-fluids/

if you infused 500ml of D5 and then infused 500ml of NS (normal saline) it's not at all the same as infusing 1000ml of "D5 in normal saline". Even though the terms sound interchangeable they are not. I hope that doesn't confuse things for anyone.

16” is my new “normal”.
If you aren’t careful it will be yours as well if you keep it up!

Only 400ml makes 21”

You can buy 50% veterinary Dextrose and administer it to the 5% to raise the concentration but it creates many more opportunities to botch the infusion so educate yourself thoroughly before giving it a shot.

It’s hard to see my rubber tourniquet but it’s under there….

It’s very comfortable and fully waterproof.

I’m really craving that moment when I tape off the insertion hole and start swelling profusely.
