Wal-Mart has a 2 gallon sun tea jar the opening is 5" though

Can anyone get a seal with a 5" opening?

You can buy silicone rings to fit and downsize the opening. You could also use plumbing rings in rubber.

not trying to hijack this thread, but i just came from some shopping at Target. They have the acrylic sun tea jars back in stock. They have 4 inch opening, they are ten dollars. they also have the larger, i think 1.5 gallon version in glass with a 5 inch opening. price on that is twenty dollars

Target had a clear 1 no funky designs but the thread is odd won't thread on the bulk head fitting from pump toys been nice if he included a nut.

I just bought last night. Opening is a little to big for a good seal

I haven't seen the acrylic ones at Target yet, haven't been to Walmart though.

I just saw couple days ago Walmart had out couple different glass stj's in the seasonal area. That's interesting about the acrylic stj at target,I will have to go back there.

Some other alternatives are also Walmart has a acrylic pitcher (mainstays brand Infusion Pitcher) which I bought for around 7-8 $ but it has a near exact 4" mouth that is 4" for 3" length and then gradually widens to near 7" diameter and is 9-10" in total length minus the accompanying top stuff. It is near 1/8" thick acrylic overall and 1/4" thick on bottom.
It needs slight modification to make it work.

Also check out Walmart has 2.5 quart Mt.Olive kosher dill pickles as the jar is pretty cool. It is 5" diameter but the mouth is a little more than 3 1/2" I.d. and o.d. of mouth is little more than 3 3/4" o.d. but the jar doesn't have any stepped shoulder,it tapers smoothly from full diameter width to the mouth.
