displacing saline with surgilube

what if you did a saline add of say 500ml and put the needle to one side of the sack.
then as far away from that needle as possible insert a second needle to inject surgilube.
leaving the needle in place that added the Saline.

the surgilube would, in theory, push the saline out of the saline needle and replace the saline with surgilube. i mean if someone was crazy they could do a massive fill of saline and replace it with a massive amount of surgilube.
probably not ml for ml. but still a lot.

You would need to overcome a lot of pressure to cause saline to backflow into a syringe like that. I would say it’s almost impossible without incredible amount of discomfort from the volume of SL you’re trying to displace it with.

If the idea is all about giving the SL space to flow into then honestly you just need a small amount of saline to create a pocket (5-10ml) and just use SL the rest of the time

the fact is that the physiological solution is not in a large pocket where it enters as a liquid, it is almost immediately absorbed into the tissues like a sponge and the tissue swells, so in theory it is possible if done immediately, but in large volumes like 1/1 it won't work at all!

Definitely not a 1 to 1 ratio of displacement.
Doing a short pump before an add seemed to work well.
if the saline is quickly absorbed into tissue instead of a staying an enclosed packet of liquid
then it seems to me that it is a similar to what happens when you pump albeit much quicker.

Basically you want the Saline to give space for the Surgilube.
Saline is slow, and expensive. It would be smarter to fill with a gas, and then replace that with Surgilube. Then you can simply remove the hose from the needle, and let the pressure relieve itself as surgilube take its place.

This is a good idea, insert the needle, add gas, then insert the closed needle with the SL syringe while holding the gas needle, open the gas needle, adding SL from the other side, and the gas itself will come out of the open gas needle. But the question arises, for what quantity is such a complex manipulation, because you are not going to add 200-300 ml of SL at a time in one place?!)))

For the usual addition of 20-30, or maybe 40 ml in one place, what everyone does is enough, it does not cause any complications. It is enough to use syringes of no more than 10 cubes, because the larger the syringe, the more effort you will need to press the seam
