Impotence and Caverject

Post by LexinSanAnton »

I am 44 years old and have been impotent for at least 10-12 years, about as long as Ive been pumping (off and on). Im not sure if the pumping is causing the impotence because Im not able to do it that often, maybe 2 times a month. I watch the pressure even though I use a brass pump and can't tell exactly how much Im exerting. I hardly ever get donuts or blisters so I don't think Im putting too much pressure but I still can't get a hard on. I have also taken lots of medication for liver disease and other problems for the same period of time (10-12 yrs), which may cause the impotence. I have heard of an injectable drug called Caverject. Does anyone know anything about it or have you ever used it? Im desperate. Ive tried Viagra and that doesn't work. It just makes me light headed and flushed. Thanks to anyone who might know something about Caverject and shares what they know.

I ceased to have normal erections after double hernia surgery. My urologist gave me viagra which did not work then he gave me something injectable that could be the same thing and It worked. The stuff he gave me was called trimix and I do not know if it is the same stuff or not. Lex my Dr. is in houston not too far from you his name is Dr Larry Lipschultz His Phone number is713-798-4001 might be worth a drive to houston. He is one of the best urologist in the country. He was the first to do vasectomy reversal and I was one of his first patients.

Hi Guys,

While I am not impotent, I have been in medical facility administration for many years. I am not a physician, so this is not meant to be medical advice. Rather, I thought I would share my experiences with a couple of erectile medications. You should always see a competent urologist about these matters.

Several years ago a friend of mine was suffering transitory impotence. By this I mean that while he had nocturnal erections, he often could not voluntary become or remain erect. I believe that this had more to do with performance anxitey than a phyiscal condition. However, he did have higher than normal blood pressure.

He consulted a urologist and was given a prescription for an erectile dysfunction medication named "MUSE" and a prescription for Viagra. The doctor told him to try both and decide which he preferred.

The active ingredient in MUSE is alprostadil, the same as in Caverject. However, MUSE is administered in a different way. While Caverject involves an injection into the sides of the penis directly into the corpora cavernosum (the erectile tubes), MUSE is a very small suppository that is deposited into the urethera of the penis with a prepackaged applicator supplied with each dose. The suppository is much smaller than a grain of rice. Insertion of the applicator into the urethera is not painful. Some men may find it psychologically uncomfortable at first. However, considering that the girth of the applicator and suppository is much smaller than a stream of urine or ejaculate. I would much rather insert it into my urethera than inject the side of my penis with a needle.

The positive aspect about alprosdatil is that it works directly on the erectile mechanism of the penis and has very few contraindications with other medications. As with all medications, there are certain conditions in which its use is contraindicated. You can read about these on the WEB sites for the drugs.

On the other hand, Viagra works from the brain down through the spinal cord to the penis. It has the potential for much more serious side-effects. In layman terms, I suppose that Viagara could be termed a sexual stimulant enhancement while alprosdatil is a sexual mechanism (erection) enhancer. For example. I have read that Viagra often will not work for men who have had spinal cord injury, while alprostadil will work if the circulatory and erectile system to the penis are intact.

With Muse, the drug is absorbed through the linings of the urethera into the corpora cavernosum as the suppository melts. There is no tissue puncture with Muse. Because it is a melting suppository, Muse must be kept refrigerated until about 30 minutes before use.

My friend gave me samples of both Viagra and Muse to try for sexual recreation fun. I much prefer Muse. However, it is more expensive per dose than Viagra. I suppose that a simple comparison between the two is that alprostadil tends to give you an involuntary erectile boost while Viagra depends on your mental state of arousal and the physiology between your brain and your genitals.

I've attached a picture of me administering Muse. This is with the applicator inserted.

I hope this has been informative.

Jack (UnCutTex)

Great informative post and even though I don't have ED as a problem, I'm 51 and realize that this situation could change in the future and the info you provided is very worthwhile. Thanks for taking the time and putting the information and the pic here.

I have used both Caverjet and Viagra following temporary problems following the loss of my wife. Caverjet is more powerful and more positive than Viagra, and it also works faster and for longer. Only drawback is that it takes a bit of getting used to, but on balance I prefer Caverjet and inject about 15mgs.
Speak to your uroligist and give it a try. Good luck.
Virgin8 :-*

I'm not in the medical field so this in no way is intended as medical advice but is based on personal experience. I've used caverject, viagra, papaverine, phentolamine, and a papaverine-phentolamine mix. The viagra gave me a headache which was easy enough to control with ibuprofin but I just didn't care for it. The papaverine by itself didn't seem to work for me very well. The pap-phen mix was my favorite by far. It produced raging hardons that lasted for about 2 hrs. The only drawback was the costs. The drug wasn't so bad but the quarterly visits to the doc for blood tests and one trip to the er at 3:00 am to get "drained" for priapism were very expensive. Priapism is a dream come true for most guys but believe me in reality it isn't somewhere you want to go.
Caverject worked and I used it for about 6 mos. while lawsuits made other things unavailable. For me it burned a little when injected and didn't give me the hardons that the mix did.
I finally got tired of the quarterly visits to the doc and the costs. I showed my girlfriend some info on a vacuum device where you pumped up and then released a rubber constriction band on the base. It cost somewhere around $600 and I pointed out that I could try some of the much cheaper variety sold at the local toy store. It turned out to be a legitimate way to introduce her to pumping and a new era was started. She enjoys it big time. She now does the pumping on me most of the time and likes to see how big we can actually make it and then keep it that way.

Hi Guys. I've used Caverjet for just on 5 years now. i dont know what your costs are but I get mine under our Vet Affairs for US$ 1.75 for 5 ampules of 20mg, after 5 repeats I have to get reauthorised again. Onl;y trouble with Caverjet is you can only use it once per day, you must use a different location every time otherwise scarring can occur, also over time it becomes less effective. I originaly was on 5mg, but if you give it a break it becomes effective again, also it desensitises the penis, making it more difficult/harder to eject. I can't use Viagra etc becaus I have a serious heart problem. Caverjet can give me an erection for up to 2 hours.
Regards from down under 8)
Pierced

Hi LexinSanAnton:

Personally, I would not recommend Caverject - the side effects to me are just too risky.

Your doctor should examine your penis regularly if you use Caverject. Use of Caverject may result in formation of fibrous (hardened) tissue in the penis or erections at an unusual angle. If those side effects occur, inform your doctor and stop using Caverject.

More common side effects may include:

• Blood-filled swelling at the site of injection, disorder of the penis (such as discoloration of the head, strange feeling, tearing of the skin), hardened tissue in the penis, pain in the penis, prolonged erection, upper respiratory infection

• Less common side effects may include:
Abnormal vision, back pain, bruising at the injection site, cough, dizziness, flu symptoms, headache, heart attack, high blood pressure, infection, inflamed or enlarged prostate, injuries/fractures/abrasions/lacerations/dislocations, leg pain, nasal congestion, pain, redness, sinus inflammation, skin disorders

• Rare side effects may include:
Abnormal ejaculation, bleeding at the urethra, blood in the urine, dizziness, dry mouth, extreme dilation of the pupils, fainting, fluid retention at the injection site, frequent or urgent urination, hemorrhage at the injection site, impaired urination, inflammation, irritation, itching, lack of sensation, leg cramps, low blood pressure, nausea, numbness, painful erection, pelvic pain, profuse sweating, rash on the penis, redness, sensitivity, swelling at the injection site, swelling of the head of the penis, swelling of the scrotum, testicular pain, tightness of the foreskin, warmth, weakness, yeast infection.

Post by Deltafour »

Hi, I am a 26 year old Diabetic and have been mechanicaly erectile dysfunctional for around 7 years, 2 yrs before diagnosis of diabetes despite telling GP about my weakening erections and ejaculations (it's all in the mind aparently). The two drugs avaliable on the NHS to British sufferers are Viagra and Caverjet. I tried Caverjet twice and each time it gave me an unsatisfactory erection and it felt like being kicked in the balls for 24 hrs. Viagra has no side effects for me and gives an adequate but not raging hard on. I can live with this becuase since starting to use Viagra a certain amount of improvement has occured in my condition. I cannot become or maintain an erection without it but when aroused I noticably swell now where before it was completely dead unless I was manipulating. I want to start pumping to see if this will improve it as I believe it has to do with the improved circulation when using Viagra.

As a 69 year old beginning diabetic I was also having problems keeping a hard on long enough to come. Have used viagra on occasion, (about every 4th time), and would be able to last long enough to come. Then go away hard on.
Stated pumping about two months ago. Began to get a better, longer lasting hard on, and thought it was nice. Later on, started to stuff my balls in the tube and pump them also. That seemed to do the trick. Now get hard ons in my sleep, during the day get semi hardons for no reason at all, and am back to having a good fuck again. Want to go to a stj in the future, but have not made the move yet. Sure do like pumping my balls tho.
As a side benifit, we are nudists, and I am starting to pack a little more equipment than usual.
Any how, cock pumping, then caock and ball pumping have given me some noticable improvment. :o ;D :) :)

I found the board quite by accident, surfing about. Being of curious mind, and always interested in discovering possible new ways of excitement, I read through a number of things here. I've only tried the tiniest bit of 'pumping', nipple pumping, and with that was included electrosex ( a bit of electrical shock through the nipple.. wow... VERY arousing! *S*)

However, I am prompted to write here about the issues of erectile dysfunction and ways to deal with it.

I am presently seeing a man who because of diabetes is unable to aquire an erection naturally. In discussions with his doctor about it, his dr. offered two solutions; An implanted pump (usually two long thin bladders surgically placed under the skin that can be inflated when the need arises) or a pump and cockrings that keep the erection solid until removed (suggested length of time not more than 1/2 hour). He decided against the implanted pump when it came out that they were only useful for a limited lifespan, although could be replaced (one or two times? I can't remember) then .. sorry, Bub... your sex life that includes an erect penis is done.

The pump (external) however, can be used forever, apparently. He said the one prescribed is of better quality than those that can be found in the sex shops and such, even though to me they look quite similar. Basically, he lubes both himself and cylinder, slips it over flaccid penis, pumps it up (slowly), slides two cockrings off the base of the cylinder onto his penis, preventing the release of blood now in the penis. Then he simply slides off the cylinder and we're into a half hour of very pleasurable sex play! And yes, he can have an orgasm with it in place.

Now... I'm not sure that his physician really knows how much he uses it... but while he does follow the 'half hour at a time' time limit to be pumped... with a half hour 'rest' ... he's ready to pump again for another half hour.

Do I mind any of this? Are you NUTS!?!? ;) ;D I could kiss the person who invented this, and delight that my lover is perfectly delighted to 'play' with me during his 'downtime'. We play together for hours at a time (about 16 was one session.. although we did take breaks for food and such. Brief as hey were... ::))

My point is this; while he is by description 'Impotent'... he's one of the finest lovers I've ever had. I have no problem with his having to take time to pump, as a matter of fact I try to be as much part of that as possible, by stroking his ass or balls while he's pumping, or generally just touching him in anticipatory ways! :D (He has met a woman who couldn't deal well with it.. her foolish loss as far as I'm concerned.)

So I would say as far as impotence is concerned ... particularly on THIS board... all you folks who -already- like pumping... this would definately be a thing to check out!

(He has also said he likes that he can stay hard for so long, and not 'worry' about losing his erection when he's not ready (by orgasming or just losing the stiffness as 'normal' men do)... he knows he can pleasure me for at least half an hour that way... then 'take things in hand' or so to speak.. ;)... then pump again and drive me crazy again! And again. And -again-!!! We've often had sessions that lasted for many hours, before he's not hell bent on attaining an orgasm as soon as possible, he likes the play of the journey... and even then.. if I'm on a verge myself and he's had an orgasm... he can keep going for me, because his erection is still stiff.)

....and ... even though it does NOT matter to me how big he is, he IS quite thick and long when he pumps... and he says it's quite different from what he was 'naturally' before the diabetic impotence came on. (on the subject of penises and size?.... it does not matter how big the brush is, but how well the artist wields it, and applies himself to his 'art'... :D....

Just wanted to add my two cents from the female viewpoint of things like impotence and pumping..... :)
