Wrap them with transparent plastic, so that they will look like new. Nobody will confiscate them! Keep the pump separated from the tubes, preferably in another compartment. I have traveled with my cylinders and pump without problems. What caused me trouble was a bottle of poppers that I forgot to trash when returning to USA from another country.
Moderate pumping to get the best results. Sometime going to extreme pumping to my own enjoyment and to impress my friends

have you traveled with the metal/auto grade pump?
beginning at 4.5 girth, working toward having an unpumped girth of 6-6.5

Re: tsa and pump tubes
I travel with tubes, pumps and my STJ quite frequently on business trips. I've never had any issues. I usually remove the connector on the end of the tube that contains metal and keep that separate and the hand pump separate too. I usually bubble wrap most of the things and don't check it in my checked luggage. The cold in the luggage hold will damage things if it's not kept in the pressurized/warmed luggage hold area.
