I didnt realize how many people are asking about my zylinder design until i looked back into this forum. Please feel free to copy this design as you whish. There ist just one rule: Call ist Tanuki's zylinder, LOL!
The parts are made from different CNC milled acrylic sheets. The layers are glued on each other to build its shape. Only 2D milling is involved. The most complicated part is the seal inside the half stage (gray, see second picture). The idea is very simple: The black ring is sealing against the the second stage, the grey seal is sealing against the split parts. The vacuum holds everything together.
The design is not 100% airtight, you'll need a electric pump to get good results.
The pattern on the side of the zylinder is a heating foil. Warmth is essential if you want to get huge.

I can't find the drawings anymore, but the pictures should give a good starting point for your own design:

Great innovations. Can you direct us to a link with the the same heating foil that you are using?
many thanks in advance

I, too, have been looking for that heating foil.
It’s the pleasure of the pressure...

You'll need a isolated regulated power supply 0..12V/3A for it. For example this (maybe too expensive for this purpose, just a hint):

that is a great design. I reckon that with some electrical tape over the seams, it would be completley vacuum tight.
Let me in!

Thank you so much. I've been waiting so long to see how your split collar tube was made. I know what I'll be doing during the next couple of weeks.

brilliant and simple design. I've wanted this since I first saw you in it. That heating tape is fantastic. Thank you!

What is the conrad machine ? An electro pump? BTW nice work on the "open" source
