Heya!
I am pumping on and off for years, with mixed results.
I am using Jars to pump, modified with pcp- valves and a pump. I have a STJ- seal, wich wont fit on my main pumping jar, and I decided to pad the edge with silicone myself. It helped a bit, but after pumping for an hour the edge is presing so much on the same site, it is beginning to hurt really badly. Massaging won't help either.
Vacuum is not too high, about 2-3 Hg in Vac., sometimes 5 but then the edge starts to really hurt, and it hinders me to get bigger.
Anyone got tips`or advice? I am getting really frustrated by the pain

I use a heating pad to keep things warm, have patience and don't rush things... don't forget to hydrateduring and moisturize after.

Think about going to Harbor Freight and buying a cheap 4" innertube. Cut about a 4" piece from it. There are ridges on these things now--use a piece of sand paper and sand those off or use a exacto or razor and cut them off. Then, stick about 2" of it in the jar and pull the other part over the rim of the jar which will make a comfort seal. That sharp edge is pressing on the pelvic bone. I'm thin with same problem. I made a great tube from PVC with a double (1/2") rim and no pain at all. Good Luck.

Re: Edge of Jar is hurting
I've been looking into getting a bigger tube/stj myself and found this post on here from user: reggie469 "if you have a STJ and need a seal, I use automotive blue silicone that I get from O'Riely's. It's oil resistant and last for a long time."
Haven't had a chance to personally try it, but it sounds like a good cheap fix.

beginning at 4.5 girth, working toward having an unpumped girth of 6-6.5

Oxy: Is that the same type of stuff that you could dip a screwdriver into and make a handle? Just wondering if you maybe had a URL. Thanks for the advise.

Build up the edge of the jar thicker with two-part epoxy plumber's putty.

Check out your plumbing section at Menards or Home Depot, and look for a foam toilet gasket. Not wax, but foam. Mine has a lipped area that fits my STJ perfectly, and provides a 1/4" cushion

Actually it's a urinal gasket. Search foam urunal gasket or use the link

Found the 3" tank gasket fits my sun tea jar well now I just need to figure out why it doesn't maintain vacuum. I think it's the spout gasket.

Sealing is an issue regardless. Do you need to trim? Maybe Vaseline the seal?
