Ball pumping with one gallon jar

New to the ball pumping was wondering should I start with a gallon jar or should I start with something smaller

Start with whatever has the most comfortable opening.
Necessity will require a gallon eventually as you grow over the YEARS.
If you become addicted a monster will be needed one day.
