Am considering getting a monster tube, but concerned about seal issues. I did see a photo once of a monster tube that was kept closed with large binder clips. Anyone ever try those?

I have a MT Jr. First, before you start using binder clips, check the small "O" ring that goes around the valve. These small pieces wear out or get distorted from being pressed against the body of the MT. If you have a problem with it leaking air, it's very likely that this ring is the cause. Even if it doesn't look bad, replace it. They're extremely cheap and are available at any hardware store. Secondly, you can get replacement gaskets from the manufacturer. I also just realized last week that the gasket is likely to last longer if I store the MT open, and not clamped shut. I have the feeling that storing it with the MT closed and clamped eventually compresses the gasket and prevents it from forming a good seal. If you decide to replace the nylon nuts that it ships with, go to the hardware store and find other nylon screws and nuts but also get oversized washers. The washers will spread the pressure of the screw over a wider area and that will cause less strain on the plastic that the MT is made from. These should work better than binder clips and are less likely to scratch you like metal rods and nuts can. Lastly, make sure that the hinge isn't dangling from the body of the MT. Two of my hinge screws went missing somehow and that meant that the two sides didn't align properly, so it wouldn't seal.

But when I do Glucose inflation sometimes it was too little!
