Board problems - board restored - but some pics lost

Postby admin » Wed Feb 18, 2009 1:11 am

We had a major crash of the software that runs this message board. We were unable to recover all pictures - so if you see some posts with pictures missing this is why. We apologize for the problem and for being unavailable over the last week. It was a tough problem to fix.

Please let me know if you are still experiencing problems.

I must say, I love the new layout and hope that everything will be fully up and running properly again soon, including the personal avatar system, so we can add them again. Keep up the good works chaps.

Is it just me or is the new site really slow?

Runs fine on my end, however BBCode is turned off so php code for things like the Quote button are not functioning properly.

Scrolling Pictures

Postby omicron65 » Fri Feb 20, 2009 3:00 am

Is there any chance of allowing large posted pictures to be seen at "full size", without having to scroll them?

The thing with the pictures..
I've seen it on another board where large images show as thumbnails, and you click on them to see and DL the larger version. If you dont want to see it large, you dont have to. And it apparently saves a bit on the server loading too.

Just a thought?

As an avid user of both phpBB2 and phpBB3 Boards, I would suggest installing additional MODs that assist in the prevention of Spammers. Check http://www.phpbb.com or http://www.phpbbhacks.com for mods / add-ons.

Some suggestions:

Quick Reply Mod - There are a few out there, so look at them prior to installing.
Auto Group Mod - Groups users with # of posts and gives them a rank.

From phpBBhacks.com: Security and Privacy Mods/Hacks, http://www.phpbbhacks.com/category3/10/

MODs & Hacks = Modifications. I don't want people thinking that they are bad things ;)

You can do it with phpBB3. You have to disable the thumbnail option.

Hosted on a Linux server and with some appropriate and needed Mods it would make your head spin.. Not that head.....
Thanks to the Admin for saving the place from total destruction.. Been there and done that and I am with you 100% and offer any assistance I can.. to include webhosting.

Too many issues! Why did this board change?

Postby BallnCockPumperCT » Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:29 am

What the hell?
I keep having to log in and then when I do I have to do it again to post.
What is all this HTML code doing within posts?
Why is there no explanation what's going on...why this all changed...or why it's not working?

Too bad about losing the attachments. I was wondering how come so many pictures were listed as attachments but couldn't be viewed. Checked on some of the pictures that I had posted & noticed some were also lost.

Hopefully you'll be able to get everything back together. Otherwise, I enjoy the new, cleaner format.
